God and the geese
There was once a man who didn't believe in God, and he didn't hesitate to let others know how he felt about religion and religious holidays. His wife, however, did believe, and she raised their children to also have faith in God and Jesus, despite his disparaging comments. One snowy Eve, his wife was taking their children to service in the farm community in which they lived. They were to talk about Jesus' birth. She asked him to come, but he refused. "That story is nonsense!" he said. "Why would God lower Himself to come to Earth as a man? That's ridiculous!" So she and the children left, and he stayed home. |

Three trees Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, "Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty."
Then the second tree said, "Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull." Finally the third tree said, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me." |

The doubt brought the end

There is a story of a cliffhanger, determined to reach the summit of a high mountain. After years of preparation, he began his adventure. Only he journeyed alone, because he wanted all the glory. He began his ascent, and as daylight faded he decided to continue climbing. Night fell. The Night fell heavy as he was overcome by total darkness. The Moonlight and Starlight were hidden within the clouds. There was zero visibility.

Have you tasted my Jesus?
A University once a year would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education centre. One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich. Dr. Tillich spoke for two and one-half hours proving that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He quoted scholar after scholar and book after book. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection, the religious tradition of the church was groundless, emotional mumbo-jumbo, because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact, never rose from the dead in any literal sense. He then asked if there were any questions. |

My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable! One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books. I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? He must really be a nerd." I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him. He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes. My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. |

Every day we are given the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life. Every time we open our mouth to speak, we send forth words which have an effect on those around us. Our words, which come "out of the overflow of the heart" (Matthew 12:34), will either cause a positive or negative reaction - our word are rarely neutral. Knowing the power of our words ought to cause us to use them with great care. |

Forgive as He forgave It seems like sooner or later everyone gets mistreated and hurt. Many times the actions against us are unintentional, but other times they can be extremely malicious. Suddenly, this hurt begins to invade every other area of our life. We carry a heavy burden which we know we don't deserve - and which we certainly don't desire to keep - but it's a burden we can't seem to let go. |

The gift of God
What is the gift of God? "The Gift of God is eternal life" (Romans 6:23) What is eternal Life? It is the exact opposite of death. "The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life" (Romans 6:23). Eternal life is continued existence with no death. One writer describes it like this: " If a little bird should fly from heaven to earth and pick up one grain of sand and take it back to heaven, and repeat it once every million years (one grain of sand every million years), by the time it had taken every grain of sand from this earth to heaven, it would be put a moment in eternity." Eternal life is also a different quality of life that we experience now. The apostle Paul wrote that now we live in weakness, but then we will live in power; now we are perishable, but then we will be imperishable (1 Corinthians 15:35-44,RSV).

Prayer " Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as a friend." " Prayer is the key in the hand of faith to unlock heaven's storehouse, where are treasured the boundless resources of Omnipotence."
To whom are we to pray? "O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come" (Psalm 65:2)
How willing is God to hear our prayers? "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (Matthew 7:11). |

What happens after death?
Are the dead living in another world? Can the dead see, hear, and know what is going on in this world? When a good man dies, does his soul go immediately to heaven? When a bad man dies, does his soul go immediately to hell? Do the dead go first to a stopping-off place called purgatory? When a amn dies, does he go off to a spirit world where he his able to send mesages to his loved ones? Or could it be that when a man dies, he peacefully sleeps until the resurrection day? Let us see what God, the Author of live, has to say on this subject. |

Why suffering and death? Why is there so much suffering in the world? Why is there death? Who is the cause of trouble and sorrow? Is it God? Does God make people sick? Did God plan death? How can God be a God of love and allow suffering and decay? Is there any hope of release? Will it always go on like this?
What kind of world did God make? "God saw every thing that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning where the sixth day" (Genesis 1:31). Very good means that it was a world without sin, suffering, and death when it came from the hand of God. |
